In the Crowd, the Warmth of a Brand Recognized at a Glance

CHYIHAUR produced the indoor signage identity for accessory brand vacanza's store at Taimall Shopping Center. In the mall's high-traffic, multi-brand environment, a clear and on-brand identity lets vacanza stand out at a glance among the counters, continuing the brand's consistent storefront image.

A shopping mall is an amplifier of brand visibility, and also an arena of identity — every counter competes for attention. As vacanza opened at Taimall Shopping Center, its storefront signage had to stand out clearly on a floor crowded with brands while holding to the brand's consistently refined character. CHYIHAUR handled the fabrication and installation of the indoor signage identity for this project.

In the Crowd, a Brand Remembered at First Glance

01

Project Background & Challenges

As part of its store expansion, vacanza opened a location inside Taimall Shopping Center. Unlike a street-front storefront, signage within a shopping mall contends with heavy foot traffic and a floor crowded with competing brands: a customer's attention is constantly pulled toward the surrounding counters, so recognition has to happen within a few seconds. At the same time, the mall imposes overall spatial guidelines, and the signage has to assert the brand's presence while staying within those rules.

A bronze arched gateway whose curved lightbox panel at the top glows warm behind dark lowercase vacanza lettering; inside, a jewellery display table is lit by round lights set into its base.

Same Shape, New Venue

The arch-plus-lettering combination carries over vacanza's existing identity vocabulary: regulars who have recognised it once at another branch don't have to recognise it a second time on walking into Taimall. The mall has overall rules for how counters present themselves, so there is only so much a sign decides for itself; what could genuinely be adjusted was where the identity sits and where the light comes from, and that part was set again against the floor's viewing circulation and lighting environment.

Design Goals & Strategy

Our goal was to maintain vacanza's brand consistency within the mall environment: carrying over the brand's existing identity vocabulary so that customers familiar with vacanza would recognize it at a glance at the Taimall store as well. We adjusted the placement and presentation of the identity to suit the mall's sightlines and lighting conditions, ensuring the signage reads clearly within the field of view of floor traffic without departing from the brand's refined character.

The Surface Seen Up Close

People pass from every direction in a mall, so the sides and backs of dimensional letters get looked at as much as their faces — the face is not the only surface that has to answer for itself. A row of letters reads as one piece, but it is fixed to the beam letter by letter to a set position; a slight drift in level or spacing shows completely at this distance.

One Slot Among Many Brands

An open counter is flanked by other brands, with no partition wall to hang a sign on. Once the arch goes up, the entrance and the extent of the shop are drawn at the same time.

Project Outcome

Once completed, the vacanza store at Taimall carries signage that reads clearly across the mall floor, with a brand character consistent with the brand's other locations — wherever customers encounter it, they see the same vacanza. The project also gave the brand a proven reference for presenting its identity within mall retail channels, supporting the rollout of future locations.

FAQ

This is an indoor signage identity project that CHYIHAUR carried out for the accessory brand vacanza's store inside Taimall Shopping Center. Within the mall's high-traffic, multi-brand environment, the project used an identity that continues the brand's vocabulary so that customers recognize the store at a glance.

Mall storefront signage has to achieve recognition quickly in an environment where multiple brands sit side by side and attention is highly scattered, all while working within the mall's overall guidelines to assert the brand's presence. A street-front store allows more freedom, with the emphasis on long-distance recognition at street scale. CHYIHAUR has hands-on experience with both.

The key is to carry over one shared set of brand identity vocabulary, then adjust the placement and presentation to suit each location's spatial conditions. When CHYIHAUR produced the identity for vacanza's Taimall store, it used the brand's existing visuals as the baseline, so customers see a consistent brand image across every location.

If your brand is about to open in a shopping mall or department store counter and needs indoor signage and identity fabrication, we welcome you to reach CHYIHAUR through the 'Contact Us' page on our official website. The team will provide planning recommendations and a quotation based on your mall's conditions.

The placement and presentation of the signage were determined by the mall's floor circulation, its lighting conditions, and the center's overall guidelines, so the identity sits within the sightlines of passing shoppers without departing from the brand's refined character. For the installation stage, CHYIHAUR worked on site in line with the mall's operating conditions, positioning the identity lettering precisely.
