NUVOLA Baked-Enamel Metal Dimensional Letter Signage | Precision Installation on an Art-Paint Wall

Selected Works

One letter, one hole — precision that becomes elegance on the wall

CHYIHAUR created exterior baked-enamel metal dimensional letters for NUVOLA, pairing metal laser cutting with a back-welded round-bar method. On an art-paint wall, the round bars were embedded with drilling accurate to ±1mm, fully protecting the art coating. Completed in seven days with 100% design fidelity, backed by a one-year warranty on the fabrication.

Project Planning & Execution

CHYIHAUR Team

Some walls are works of art in their own right. NUVOLA's exterior façade is finished in art paint, and the dimensional signage letters had to go up without leaving any unnecessary mark. CHYIHAUR paired matte metal baked-enamel dimensional letters with a back-welded round-bar method, converging every precision requirement of the installation into each drilled hole, so the letters seem to grow naturally out of the wall.

01

Project Background & Challenge

NUVOLA's exterior signage takes the route of matte metal dimensional letters, presenting the brand name on the façade in the quietest way possible. The greatest challenge of this project lay in the wall itself: the on-site surface was finished in art paint, and that coating's texture is part of the storefront's design. Every drilled and cored hole during installation had to be handled with great care — the tolerance between hole diameter and round bar kept within ±1mm — so the letters could seat precisely into the wall while preserving the integrity of the art coating. A single slip leaves no room for a second attempt.

A square opening cut into a pale plaster facade; inside, small dark lettering sits on a terracotta lime-washed wall, wild grasses fill a trough along the sill, and a warm amber lampshade glows in the room beyond.

An Unlit Choice

The art-paint coating is itself part of this facade's design, so a light box or a backing panel would only cover it with another layer. No lighting was fitted here: the dark baked-metal letters and the terracotta coating set each other off instead, so the brand is read through craft detail rather than brightness.

02

Design Goals & Strategy

We set the goal as "precise installation, zero-trace mounting." The letters are shaped by metal laser cutting for crisp stroke edges; round bars welded to the reverse form the fixing structure, seated directly into pre-drilled holes in the wall so no mounting hardware shows from the front. The lighting was intentionally left unlit, letting the texture of the baked enamel and the art-paint wall play off one another — expressing the brand through the detail of craftsmanship rather than brightness.

Hardware Out of Sight

Round bars are welded to the back of each letter and seated straight into holes pre-drilled in the wall, so no fixing hardware shows from the front — all that stays on the wall is the roughly one-centimetre depth of the letter and the shadow it casts.

Tolerance in the Setting Out

Hole positions come from precise setting out; the difference between hole and bar had to stay within ±1 mm, and a hole that misses leaves no room for a second attempt.

The Key to the Letterform

The clean edge on these fine strokes comes from metal laser cutting; the finished letters match the design as drawn, at 100% fidelity.

Project Outcome

Once complete, NUVOLA's exterior signage sees the dimensional letters seated precisely into the art-paint wall — the coating intact and undamaged, with no fixing marks visible from the front, achieving 100% design fidelity. The façade retained its original artistic texture, the brand name fulfilling its identity role with just the right measure of presence, and the whole build took only seven days.

FAQ

This is an exterior dimensional-letter signage project that CHYIHAUR executed for NUVOLA, using baked-enamel metal dimensional letters in an unlit design. The letters were shaped by metal laser cutting and fixed with back-welded round bars, then embedded precisely into an art-paint wall — completed in seven days.

The main body consists of baked-enamel metal dimensional letters, shaped by metal laser cutting, with round bars welded to the back as the fixing structure. No fasteners are visible from the front, giving a clean, matte metal texture.

The biggest difficulty is not damaging the art coating: drilling and coring must be handled with great care, keeping the tolerance between hole diameter and round bar within ±1mm so the letters seat precisely into the wall while preserving the integrity of the art-paint surface. CHYIHAUR completed the installation with precise hole-position setting-out and careful workmanship, leaving the wall coating fully intact.

An unlit design lets the baked-enamel metal letters express the brand through the material's own texture, setting off the art-paint wall without letting lighting steal the show — ideal for a storefront that emphasizes atmosphere and detail.

The NUVOLA exterior signage had a seven-day construction cycle and achieved 100% design fidelity; a one-year warranty on the fabrication is provided upon completion.
