One sign that makes a studio memorable on the corner
CHYIHAUR designed and fabricated the outdoor signage for suspension studio, translating a bilingual Chinese-English brand name into a focal point of identity on the streetfront facade. From visual planning and fabrication to installation, we handled it all in one flow, letting the studio meet its customers with a clean, memorable frontage.

A studio-type brand doesn't enjoy the constant exposure of a chain store; its frontage is often the only advertisement it has. suspension studio commissioned CHYIHAUR for its outdoor signage project, asking a single sign to convey the brand's tone clearly and make passers-by remember the name.
Background & Challenge
suspension studio is an appointment-based, studio-type brand with a single location and a limited facade, making outdoor signage its primary identity carrier on the street. The brand name pairs Chinese and English, so the sign had to resolve the visual relationship between the Chinese characters and 'suspension studio' at once. Achieving clarity, refinement, and restraint on a confined facade was the core challenge of this project.

Hierarchy of Two Scripts
With two scripts on one board, the risk is two lines talking past each other. Splitting 懸 and 浮 to bracket SUSPENSION STUDIO makes them read as a single group; generous letter-spacing and thin strokes let the whole name be read in daylight without any illumination. With a limited facade to work with, the effort went entirely into the lettering and its proportions.
Design Goals & Strategy
We set 'simple yet memorable' as our direction: first refining the hierarchy and proportion between the Chinese and English lettering so the sign reads at a glance, then arranging its position and scale to suit the facade, keeping the frontage clean and consistent with the brand's tone. A studio-type brand runs lean on both budget and space, so we concentrated our effort on the finer details of lettering and proportion, letting a single sign carry the full brand impression.

Reading It at an Angle
People approach along the street at an angle, so the sign has to survive perspective compression. It was positioned precisely to the facade conditions and aligned to the edge line, so from a distance it reads as one slim dark band — and is still recognisable.
- 01Outdoor Signage DesignRefining the bilingual brand lettering and planning the facade visuals.
- 02Sign FabricationFabricating the outdoor sign to the design drawings with fine attention to detail.
- 03On-site InstallationPositioning precisely to suit the facade, then completing installation and finishing.
Outcome
Once complete, the outdoor sign gave suspension studio a clear brand facade on the street, with well-defined hierarchy and balanced proportion between the Chinese and English lettering, and a frontage aligned with the brand's tone. For a single-location studio, a finished sign is the starting point of brand exposure, and it also makes it easier for customers to find the shop by its frontage.

FAQ
This is an outdoor signage design and fabrication case that CHYIHAUR carried out for the studio-type brand suspension studio. The project began with the visual refinement of the bilingual brand lettering and covered sign design, fabrication, and on-site installation.
From studio cases like suspension studio, CHYIHAUR's takeaway is this: when a brand has a single location and a limited facade, the sign is its primary exposure, so the design must focus its effort on the details of lettering, proportion, and placement. A simple, clear frontage that matches the brand's tone is more memorable than elaborate ornamentation.
In the suspension studio case, CHYIHAUR first refined the hierarchy and proportion between the Chinese and English lettering, then laid out the facade so the sign reads at a glance. If the style and size relationship between the Chinese and English type isn't planned, the frontage easily looks cluttered, which makes lettering refinement in the design phase the key.
In the suspension studio case, CHYIHAUR handled the design, fabrication, and on-site installation of the outdoor sign as a one-stop service. Having the same team carry the project from drawing to site ensures the finished piece stays true to the design direction.
