Hehao Design drew inspiration from the natural forms of water, bringing the imagery of splashes, raindrops and ripples into the AVEDA Chung Tai store and using glass block to conjure a shimmering, light-dappled atmosphere. In a space this attentive to detail, a sign cannot be merely an object hung on the wall — with frameless metal precision illuminated letters, CHYIHAUR made the brand identity the cleanest beam of light in the room.

Project Background & Challenge
As AVEDA expanded its chain of stores, it opened a counter at NOKE Chung Tai Living Mall, with the space directed by Hehao Design. Drawing on the natural forms of water, the design weaves in the imagery of splashes, raindrops and ripples, using glass block to build a shimmering, light-dappled atmosphere. CHYIHAUR was responsible for the interior illuminated signage: the brand required a face that was entirely borderless, with no acrylic protruding at the cross-section, and the acrylic had to be inlaid with precision within the thickness of the metal letters. The precision of the metal folded edge and the tightness of the acrylic fit needed only to be off by a fraction to leave a gap or a glow line, making this the most craft-demanding aspect of the entire project.
Legibility Behind Glass Block
Seen through a full wall of glass block, light is scattered by the blocks, so any frame line or bright edge would be magnified into noise. The main lettering is therefore formed from folded stainless steel, with the acrylic chamfered on a CNC lathe and seated exactly within the letter's metal thickness — no frame at the front, no acrylic standing proud of the return. With even front lighting, the faces are read through clean, uniform light rather than by forcing brightness through the glass.

Design Goals & Strategy
The primary identity uses frameless metal precision illuminated letters: once the stainless-steel three-dimensional edges are folded and formed, the acrylic face is chamfered on a CNC lathe and inlaid with precision within the metal dimensional letters, achieving a refined result with an entirely borderless face and no acrylic protruding at the cross-section, while a front-lit configuration keeps the light clean and even. Suspended within the space is a metal light box formed from SECC steel, paired with high-grade Class-A stainless-steel hairline-finish illuminated letters whose fine texture adds an eye-catching highlight and echoes the luminous quality of the glass block.
Letters With Nothing To Hide Behind
On the timber column the letters are fixed straight onto the surface — no backing panel, no box to conceal a trim, so the cut edge is where the eye stops. Because the acrylic seats precisely within the metal letter's thickness, a change of background calls for no added frame.

Project Outcome
In the completed AVEDA store at NOKE Chung Tai, the frameless precision letters settle into Hehao Design's water-inspired space in their cleanest form; the hairline texture of the suspended metal light box and the play of light across the glass block set each other off, with the design realized at 100% fidelity. This design carries the Daymaker's aspiration to create beautiful ripples together with every customer, letting AVEDA meet everyone who loves life at Chung Tai with a fresh new face.
