Founded in 1976, Jinlong Pork Jerky is renowned nationwide for its freshly grilled jerky and earned a five-star Lohas Vendor certification from the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2020. As this heritage name sets its sights on becoming a classic Taiwanese jerky brand, its in-store signage had to rise to match. CHYIHAUR brought refined contemporary character to this near-half-century golden signboard through stainless steel dimensional letter craft.

Project Background & Challenge
The flagship Jinlong Pork Jerky store has operated since 1976, famed nationwide for its freshly grilled jerky and aiming to become a classic Taiwanese jerky brand. In a brand upgrade, the indoor signage is the most immediate point of brand contact once a customer steps inside: it had to preserve the trust of a long-established store while conveying the refinement of a brand advancing toward classic status. The dimensionality of the lettering and its metallic quality became the focus of this project.
The gold is not the steel's colour
This sign has no light source, so the quality has to come from the material itself. The sheet is 1.2mm hairline stainless steel, the grain already in the metal; it is folded to 2cm of depth to give the letters their body, then electroplated for the colour. The grain stays beneath the plating, which is why the reflection shifts from bright gold to dark gold along one direction. With no glow to hide behind, every fold and joint is looked at directly.

Design Goal & Strategy
We worked toward a direction of "dimensional, floating, and refined": the primary letters were folded to 2cm depth from 1.2mm brushed stainless steel and electroplated for a metallic sheen, then mounted on welded round-bar standoffs so the letters float off the wall, letting light fall naturally onto the surface to create layered shadow. Baked-enamel acrylic letters accompany them, and the whole piece is designed without internal illumination, letting the material and craft details speak for themselves.
Between the old shop and the upgrade
This shop has been running since 1976, so the sign has to hold the trust of regular customers while also carrying the refinement the brand is moving toward. The metal main letters set the tone and the baked-paint acrylic letters add the layering, so the sign still shows which element leads inside a busy storefront.
