San-Si Hang Exterior Illuminated Signage Letters | Louvred Wall 3D Letter Installation Case
Selected Works
Above the Louvres, the Brand Emerges, Steady and Sure
CHYIHAUR crafted exterior illuminated signage letters for San-Si Hang: aluminium-alloy Channelume channel letters in a front-lit configuration. Facing a distinctive louvred wall, we custom-built a powder-coated stainless-steel back frame and extended steel bracket so the letters mount securely and appear to float, without compromising the architecture. Completed in 45 days, with a one-year workmanship warranty.

Some building facades are works of art in their own right—and San-Si Hang's louvred wall is exactly that. The signage could not be brutally bolted on, yet the brand still had to be seen. CHYIHAUR custom-engineered a dedicated extended steel bracket and back-frame structure so the illuminated 3D letters seem to float above the louvres, emerging with quiet, unwavering elegance across the harbour district.
Project Background & Challenge
San-Si Hang's facade is defined by a louvred wall—and that became the project's greatest challenge. A louvre is not a continuous solid wall, so 3D letters cannot be fixed to it directly; the load points are scattered and uneven, and drilling into the louvres to mount the sign would sacrifice the very beauty of the architecture. The signage engineering had to find a solution that satisfied both secure load-bearing and a fully preserved facade.

Sign placement on the louvred wall
A high vantage takes in the whole low-rise block: dark horizontal metal louvres run the full width of the wall, while the blue arched emblem and the white dimensional letters are grouped into one stretch at the centre, the rest left bare. The sign sits directly above the pavement, readable both to people walking past the shopfronts and from the asphalt road opposite. Because louvres are not a solid continuous wall, the letters are carried on an extended steel frame. The sky was overcast and the letter faces were not lit.
Design Goals & Strategy
For fabrication we chose aluminium-alloy Channelume channel letters; the front-lit configuration keeps each letter face bright and legible at night. For the structure, we custom-built a dedicated extended steel bracket paired with a powder-coated stainless-steel back frame, so the 3D letters mount securely and float above the louvres. This intricate craftsmanship, hidden behind the letters, resolves the mounting and load-bearing challenge where no one can see it—from the front, only the clean, emergent brand lettering remains.

Letter depth and the shadow gap
Up close, three glossy white dimensional letters and a smaller line of English beneath them show their side walls clearly. Both the letters and the blue arched panel to the left stand off the louvres by a gap, casting a distinct shadow on the wall — that gap is where the backing frame holds them away from the surface.

Project Outcome
Once completed, San-Si Hang's exterior signage sees the illuminated 3D letters floating steadily above the louvred wall—blending into the building's lines by day, and lit by the front-lit configuration to bring the brand lettering to life by night, with 100% design fidelity. The extended steel bracket and back-frame structure fully preserve the beauty of the louvred facade, letting the brand lettering emerge with quiet, unwavering elegance across the harbour district.

FAQ
This is an exterior illuminated signage-letter case CHYIHAUR executed for San-Si Hang in 2023. Using aluminium-alloy Channelume channel letters in a front-lit configuration, we custom-built an extended steel bracket and a powder-coated stainless-steel back frame so the letters mount securely and float above the louvred wall—completed in 45 days.
A louvred wall is not a continuous solid wall, so 3D letters cannot be fixed to it directly and a separate structure is required. CHYIHAUR custom-built a dedicated extended steel bracket and powder-coated stainless-steel back frame for San-Si Hang, letting the 3D letters float and mount above the louvres—solving the mounting and load-bearing challenge without compromising the building's original beauty.
The signage letters are aluminium-alloy Channelume channel letters, the light source uses a front-lit configuration, and structural reinforcement uses a powder-coated stainless-steel back frame paired with an extended steel bracket.
Channelume channel letters are an illuminated-letter technique in which a three-dimensional letter shell is formed from metal sheet with a built-in light source, giving the letters a full, three-dimensional body and even nighttime illumination. Here they were made from aluminium alloy, balancing weight, weather resistance and load-bearing needs—well suited to outdoor building facades.
This project had a 45-day construction period, including structural fabrication and on-site installation, with 100% design fidelity; a one-year workmanship warranty is provided on fabricated items after completion.
