The impression a restaurant makes begins at the sign above its door. Yu-Dao commissioned CHYIHAUR to design and fabricate its outdoor signage and interior identity, so that guests who spot the brand from the street and step inside meet one continuous visual language—hospitality that starts at the sign.
Project Background & Challenge
Yu-Dao is an F&B brand built on atmosphere, and this project spanned both outdoor signage and interior identity. The challenge lay in inside-out consistency: the outdoor sign had to communicate the brand clearly and draw the eye within a busy streetscape, while the interior identity had to settle into the mood of the dining space—both had to read as extensions of a single language rather than independent efforts.

Form Worked Back From the Street
Under the arcade the light drops well below street level, and the sign sits on a column face; run flat along that face, it would only be read by someone standing directly in front of it. The form and proportion were worked back from the street view: mounted perpendicular to the column face so it registers from both directions along the street, with the mark and lettering lit from within, so it does not depend on the arcade's existing lighting and holds the same brightness in daytime shade.
Design Goals & Strategy
CHYIHAUR planned the whole presentation around the brand identity as its axis: the outdoor sign took its form and proportions from the street-level viewpoint, keeping the brand name clear and legible; the interior identity was restrained to match the tone of the space, letting the visuals settle quietly into the dining environment. Inside and out share one brand language, so the guest experience never breaks from facade to interior.

Confirmation at the Door
At the door the brand has to change register. The sign is deliberately kept smaller in scale than the door leaf so the timber entrance remains the way in, and the same mark appears again at close range to confirm for the guest that this is the place, rather than repeating what the street sign already said.

The Wall You Face Once Seated
Indoors the circular mark is enlarged to the scale of the wall, with warm light glowing behind it, while the name below is left unlit. Outdoors the mark and the name glow together; here only the mark steps forward.
Project Outcome
With the work complete, Yu-Dao holds a consistent brand look from the streetside sign to the identity inside: passersby recognize the brand at a glance, while guests who step in are seated within the same continuing atmosphere. An inside-out consistent identity makes the brand image more complete, and lets every guest's experience begin to build from the very first look.

FAQ
Yu-Dao is an outdoor signage and interior identity design-and-fabrication case CHYIHAUR delivered for an F&B brand. The project runs a single brand language through the streetside facade and the dining space, so guests feel a consistent brand atmosphere from the door to the interior.
Planning the outdoor signage and interior identity together is the only way to keep the brand visuals consistent inside and out—the core strategy CHYIHAUR applied on the Yu-Dao case. Commissioning the two separately easily leaves the typography, tone, and texture disconnected; unified planning keeps the guest experience seamless from the street to the seating area.
On the Yu-Dao case, CHYIHAUR provided outdoor signage design, interior identity planning, and fabrication and installation—all planned and executed by one team to keep the visuals consistent inside and out.
If you are preparing an F&B space and want to plan outdoor signage and interior identity in one go, reach out to CHYIHAUR through the "Contact Us" page on our official website, and the team will provide overall planning advice and a quote based on your space.
Being consistent inside and out does not mean the two are handled the same way. The outdoor sign's job is to be seen by people on the street, so CHYIHAUR set its form and proportions from the street-level viewpoint. The interior identity's job is to blend in: it stays restrained to suit the tone of the dining space, so what guests feel as they sit down is the atmosphere rather than the sign itself.

These projects may not headline our portfolio, yet each reflects the same commitment CHYIHAUR brings to brand and space.
Whatever the scale, every piece is held to the same standard — so each sign, each installation, becomes a definitive mark the brand leaves on the city.
