Project Planning & Execution

CHYIHAUR Team

In a store people want to photograph, the lighting is often remembered before the décor. hello melo's identity project runs from the entrance all the way inside: the exterior needs crisp illuminated letters and a corner light box to catch passing eyes, the interior needs neon strips to set the mood, and a freestanding light box to fill in the wayfinding. CHYIHAUR integrated four different lighting carriers into one consistent brand glow.

01

Project Background & Challenge

hello melo is a brand-aesthetic identity project spanning exterior light-box signage and indoor illuminated letters. The challenge lay in the diversity of carriers: front signage, a corner light box, indoor neon and a freestanding light box—four pieces with different materials, techniques and light-source characteristics, yet all had to convey a single brand tone. If the color or brightness of any one piece drifted, the whole atmosphere would fall out of balance.

A mint-green rounded light box wraps around the corner of a building, its white lettering glowing, above a pale grey-white wall with an arched opening.

L-shaped Corner Light Box

A mint-green light box folds around the building's corner and wraps both walls at once, so the white lettering reads from either side of the street as the sky darkens. The rounded box and the arched opening share the same mint-green trim, setting them apart from the smooth grey-white wall below; the fittings are front-lit throughout, keeping the letters at the same brightness as the illuminated sign on the wall to the right.

Design Goals & Strategy

The strategy was 'one brand glow across four carriers.' The front façade uses Channelume channel letters—crisp and highly legible; the corner is wrapped in an L-shaped painted metal-framed light box so two elevations share one identity; indoors, soft neon strips trace the brand's lines to create an atmosphere made for lingering and photos; and the freestanding light box uses a milky acrylic five-sided box faced with cut-vinyl film as a flexible wayfinding and identity piece. All light sources use a front-lit configuration to keep brightness consistent across every carrier.

White neon tubing bent into a wavy line of letters hangs from a dim ceiling, with a few warm recessed downlights scattered around it.

Cloud-outline Neon Indoors

The room is left dark apart from a few warm downlights, so the white neon lettering in its wavy cloud outline — hung from a single slim rod below the ceiling — glows on its own: easy to spot on arrival and a natural place to take a photo.

Project Outcome

All four of hello melo's lighting carriers were fabricated and installed on schedule within 12 days, with 100% design fidelity. The exterior letters and corner light box make the storefront clearly legible from both directions along the street; the indoor soft neon became the focal point for brand atmosphere and customer photos; and the freestanding light box flexibly rounded out the identity needs. The overall glow stays consistent—from the entrance to the interior, it's a complete brand experience.

FAQ

hello melo is a brand-aesthetic identity project executed by CHYIHAUR in 2022, spanning exterior light-box signage and indoor illuminated letters. The project includes Channelume channel letters, an L-shaped metal-framed corner light box, indoor soft neon strips and a freestanding acrylic light box, all completed within 12 days.

hello melo's identity pieces were built by CHYIHAUR using three primary materials: aluminum alloy, acrylic and galvanized metal-framed light boxes. Each carrier's material was chosen by function: the exterior letters and corner light box pair metal frames with light-transmitting facings, while the freestanding light box uses a milky acrylic five-sided box.

In the hello melo project, CHYIHAUR treated the corner elevation with an L-shaped painted metal-framed light box. An L-shaped light box wraps both wall directions at once, so passersby see the same continuous brand identity no matter which side they approach from.

hello melo's indoor mood lighting was executed by CHYIHAUR with soft neon strips, tracing the brand's lines to create an atmosphere made for lingering. The freestanding light box uses a milky acrylic five-sided box construction, with the brand imagery printed on cut-vinyl film across its surface, so it can be placed flexibly within the interior.

The hello melo identity project was completed by CHYIHAUR on a 12-day build cycle, covering four lighting carriers across the exterior and interior, with 100% design fidelity. A one-year warranty on the fabricated pieces is provided after completion.
